Instructional Design and related disciplines can be considered as the collective effort to treat the development and delivery of instruction as a science-based endeavor.

While it is not practical (or advisable) to remove the "subjective" elements of the learning process, it is well-established that treating learning as a science is beneficial. While we may not ever fully understand how the human brain works, researchers are providing many useful insights that can be applied in all realms of learning.
