The use of job aids is a hot topic in training design, and may provide a useful strategy in a "blended learning" approach to training design.

Learners can and will create their own job aids. These may be as simple as a "cheat sheet" of common procedures. Training programs provide opportunities to formalize the dissemination of job aids.

Job aids can include any kind of automation. For example, the proliferation of various mobile devices has led to opportunities to develop job aids for workers who are on the go while performing their jobs.

In corporate training, the primary goal is to make trainees more efficient in their jobs; job aids can increase the efficiency and effectiveness of workers while reducing time spent in formal training.
